26 July 2009 at 11 am, OC Lynda with hubby Low, President Nelson and Jessie paid a visit to Mr. Ea and his family to hand over club's bi-monthly groceries contribution. Spent half an hour chatting with Mr & Mrs. Ea who commented that President is a jovial man. Mr. Ea informed that his cataract operation has been postponed to September 2009. OC Lynda purchased basic essentials like rice, oats, cooking oil, soya sauce, beverage, fruits, eggs, milk and etc. President Nelson contributed a box of egg tart & siew pau while Jessie contributed chinese tea, milk, chips and tit-bits.

09/05/09 & 17/05/09 DHARMA VIHARA TEMPLE FOOD FAIR – OC KATHERINE. Both Food Fair assisted by Irene, Nelson, Patricia with daughter Jia Jing, Nancy with daughter Meng Li, Katherine and partner Cheah held at the Summit USJ open space car park.

Managed to get RM2,680 donations via ex-Lion Pang Chee Sing, ex-Lion Irene, Mdm. Tan Meow Choo and major bulk from Mdm Jackie Wang and her friends. Club purchased socks, color pencils, 2B pencils, school bags, stationery, shampoo, towels, blankets, water tumblers and T-shirts etc for our Education Welfare appointed students of SRJK [C] Tai Thung and Kwong Hon. The Chong sisters and Choong brothers will also benefit some of the products too.

12/5/09 – 3 in 1 event organised by Leo Club Monash University Malaysia - Blood Donation, Health Check, Kidney check via NKF mobile.

Of the 236 who turned up for the blood donation campaign only 195 were successful donors.

Club donated RM2,285.oo to NKF via sales of ribbon and cash donation. Thanks to Alternate Leo Advisor Lion Jamie for her RM500 contribution from her company King Hong.

1 May 2009 Visited 73-year old Mr. Ea Kong Meng, his wife Mdm Wong and their austistic 35 year old son residing at 10-12-06 Sri Selangor Flats, Jalan San Peng, Kuala Lumpur. This family was highlighted by President Nelson as he is assisting Mr. Ea to get subsidy from National Eye Hospital for his cataract operation. Club budgeted RM200 for food provision and the family was delighted to see so many members as they hardly have any visitors to talk too. Their wish list : a bigger clay pot for brewing herbal medication.

1 May 2009 Student Welfare Project. Outing at Pizza Hut cum KFC outlet at Jalan Kuchai Lama, Kuala Lumpur attended by our welfare students Choong Wey Xuan of Tai Thung school with his young brother Choong Xian yang mother Mdm. Lu. Also with us are sisters, Chong Mui Wah, Chong Mui Yin with their Auntie Mdm. Chong Siew Fong.

OC Katherine Yong visited sisters Chong Mui Wah, Chong Mui Yin with their Aunt Chong Siew Fong to hand over our club's donation of RM800 to assist in their montly house expenses. They were indeed very grateful for our assistance. Next project will be taking the sisters for their eye examination, than to the Zoo and most likely a meal at Kentucky Fried Chicken which the sisters requested.

7th Blind Leading the Blind Annual Charity Walk, a District Project spearheaded by Lions Club of Petaling Jaya, another successful project was held on 19th April 2009 at Civic Centre, Petaling Jaya. President Nelson assisted in the video taping of the whole event while Lions Jamie, Poh Ling, Katherine, Irene, Lynda & Jessie assisted the in registration while Lion Chwee Chin, Nancy and daughter Meng Li joined in the walk together with our Monash Leos.

The Blind or visually impaired will lead the sighted but blindfolded on the 3km walk, thus giving the sighted the opportunity to experience Blindness, to valu sight and to appreciate teamwork, to have fund and of course raise the much needed funds. Overall a huge success for the organising club and congrats to Lion Poh Ling and Lynda went home with a lucky prize !!

13 April 2009 President Nelson with Leo Advisor Irene and Katherine joined a group of 11 Monash Leos visited Mdm. Kang at Kamunting, Taiping to view the broad of dogs & cats. The trip was aimed at assisting Mdm Kang in term of providing shampoo, dog food and some towels for her dogs. At the age of 67 Years old, Mdm Kang is taking care of close to 200 dogs excluding the cats which she also provides shelter for. The Leos Monash University managed to raise close to RM550 from the Monash Community and the Lions PJ Mutiara sponsored RM400 for this project Overall it was a successful day trip project in aid of the animals ...

Gathering Point at Monash University main entrance at 7.00 am than onward to meet the Lions at Rawang Rest & Relax. The whole group then moved out to Kamunting, Perak which took about 4 hours. drive. While there, the Leos and Lions helped Mdm Kang cleared out some of the trash outside her residence. Mdm Kang, stays alone and lives on the public kind donations especially a doctor who gave her the bungalow on a huge piece of land for the dogs/cats. The Lions/Leos pledge to return to look into her Mdm. Kang's health and dietiary instead. On the way back, the Leos and Lions managed to have a short break for lunch at Ipoh for the famous Bean Sprout Chicken Rice (Nga Choi Kai) and The Famous Ipoh Hor Fun... all well-fed with fabulous fellowship...
