2/4/2013 OC Ln Katherine, President Chwee Chin and Ln Nelson made the Uniforms Presentation to 48 students of SJK [C] Kwong Hon, Kuala Lumpur at 10 am witnessed by teacher in charge Ms. Soot Feng.  This is made ever possible by the generous sponsorship of

2/4/2013 OC Ln Katherine, President Chwee Chin and Ln. Nelson delivered the 20 school bags costing RM550.00  to SJK [C] Tai Thung Kuala Lumpur witnessed by Vice Principal 

Puan Goh.  These school bags were partly sponsored by LC Serdang.  We took the opportunity to distribute color pencils sponsored by Faber Castell.

 

Acknowledging the commendable efforts by the Club members in making the Student Welfare Program successfully running for the past 4 years, Lion Jessie’s friend, Ms. Tan Bee Lan decided to donate RM10,000 towards the Student Meals Sponsorship and OC Katherine advised to offer to 5 more students for lunch from Kwong Hon on top of our existing students.

23/03/2013 CLD Orientation & Induction Leo Club Monash University Malaysia attended by President Chwee Chin, Advisor Lion Irene Hoi and DC for Leos Nelson Wong.  Informative CLD was conducted by DT Lion Shirley Koh for 60 Leos.  Thereafter, President Chwee Chin inducted 35 new members.

28/12/2012 President Chwee Chin and Peggy attended the Lions Club of Serdang Charity Nite, theme “Serdang Hakka Traditional Cuisine Charity Nite” held at Restaurant Hee Loi Ton, Serdang.  The event was of resounding success with 100 tables and raising over RM84,000.00.  Funds raised are in aid of their Mobile Clinic project, Walk with the Lions & Prosthetic Leg project.  We wish to put on record our sincere thanks and appreciation to LC Serdang for sponsoring RM1,000.00 towards our project for Rumah Love and Care, Kajang to purchase pampas for the elderly.

Christmas and Birthday of CP Lynda Yeng and PP Nelson Wong

9 December 2012 District 308B1 and B2 Joint Project – Children Christmas Party held at Subang Jaya Gospel Centre, PJ from 4 -7 pm with Guest of Honour YB Hannah Yeoh.  The Clubs involved were Lions Clubs KL (Host), KL Taman Tun, Damansara KL, KL Central, KL North, Subang Jaya, Sungai Buloh, Petaling Jaya, Klang & PJ Mutiara.  Event started with caroling and singing by children followed by welcoming address by OC Lion Irene Chen of LC KL Taman Tun.  Thereafter YB Hannah Yeoh gave her address and made a donation of RM2,000 towards this project.  Other highlights included violin presentation by Jordan Dass, face changing by Ms. Liao Jing Jing, Michael Jackson dance by Andrew Lee and wrapped up with magical clown show by Sweety The Clown. Buffet dinner were served at 6 pm followed by the distribution of goody packs to the respective homes.

House of Joy were unable to make it, however, the committee were generous to donate the goody packs to them too.  Thanks to Lion Yvonne and Jamie who took charge to get the goodies delivered within the week.

14/10/2012 October Fellowship cum Birthday Celebration of Lion Irene Hoi was hosted at Lion Yvonne's residence with 3 Birthday cakes with pots and plates of yummy food to fill everyone to the brim.  Invitees include ex-Lion May Loo, Lion Soong of PJ & Lion Shirley of PJ Metro.  Great fellowship complete with karaoke session lasted for 3 hours and Birthday gal Irene extend her heartfelt thanks to all for their presence & presents, specially to Lion Yvonne, for offering her beautiful mansion for this joyous event!

LUNCHEON FOR INMATES OF RUMAH LOVE & CARE, NO. 1 JALAN S8, TAMAN SAKAPP, 43000 KAJANG IN CONJUNCTION WITH MID-AUTUMN FESTIVAL ON 23 SEPT 2012

OC: PP Lion Kam Poh Ling

·           Members met up at the Sg. Long Petronas station at 10.30am and thereafter proceeded to the home led by IPP Katherine.

·           Upon arrival at about 11.00am, members brought in the pampers and food items which consisted of fried mee, fried meehoon, foo chok tong sui [by Mdm Low and Mdm Cheong] mixed vegetables [Lion Irene], tofu with mince meat [Lion Yvonne] a packet of green tea chocolate [President Chwee Chin] as well as fruits, breads and pastries. 

·           Guests assisted in decorating the porch area with paper lanterns. 

·           Lunch was served to the residents at about 11.30 am some eat themselves while 2 needed feeding.

·           Guests Mr. Richard and Lucy generously distributed ang pows to the old folks, children and caretakers.

The project ended at about 1.00pm after some photographs session.

OFF JALAN PALOONG, TAMAN MIHARJA, CHERAS, 55200 KUALA LUMPUR

PROJECT JOINTLY ORGANISED WITH OUR LEO MONASH UNIVERSITY MALAYSIA.  MONASH LEOS PROVIDED LUNCHEON, PLAY GAMES, PAINTED THE MAIN HALL, GOT DONATIONS FOR OATS BISCUITS, BUNS AND BREAD.  WHILE THE LIONS MADE DONATIONS IN KIND.  DAI VICTORIA VOLUNTEER TEACHERS MR. VICTOR MALSAWM & MR. HA BU MET US AND WAS OUR INTERPRETOR FOR THE DAY.  50 EXCITED &  WELL BEHAVED CHILDREN GREETED US WHEN WE ARRIVED AT THE CENTRE.  

SERVED LUNCH AT 11:30 AM.  CHILDREN LINED UP FOR THEIR SUMPTOUS MEAL AND WE MINGLE WITH THEM WHILE THEY WERE LUNCHING.  FEMALE LEOS ORGANISED A FEW INDOOR ICE BREAKING GAMES, THEREAFTER WE MOVED THEM TO THE OUTDOOR OPEN FIELD OPPOSITE THE CENTRE WITH MORE GAMES.  THE MALE LEOS ORGANISED THE PAINTING OF THE MAIN HALL.

THE CLUB DONATED A USED 21” PANASONIC TV, SANYO PORTABLE RADIO, 24 BOX FILES, STATIONERIES COMPRISING SOME WRITING PADS, PENCILS, PENS, GLUE, RULERS, STAPLES, STAPLES & ERASERS, T-SHIRTS, MATERIAL & VARIOUS SIZES BAGS.

AN EYE OPENING AND CHALLENGING PROJECT AS MAJORITY OF THE CHILDREN DO NOT SPEAK ENGLISH. ONLY ABOUT FIVE 12-13 YEARS OLD CHILDREN KNOWS BASIS ENGLISH.  NEVERTHELESS, THE CHILDREN HAD A WONDERFUL TIME WITH ASSISTANCE FROM THEIR TEACHER INTERPRETOR.

5/9/2012 Ex-Lion Cheng Swee Yin returned for a short vacation from Dubai and called on Lion Jessie to organise a pot luck dinner at her condo in Taman Tun, KL.  On invitation was Lions Chwee Chin, Jamie Chen, Nelson Wong, from PJ Metro were Eric Foong, David Chang, Shirley Koh, her good friend ex-Lion Jackie Loh, joining us was her sister Charissa Cheng.  Each brought a plate and we took the opportunity to celebrate Swee Yin & her sister Charissa's birthday coincidentally falls on 8 & 9 Sept respectively.  Yearly time to catch up on the latest development and hear her interesting stories from abroad.  

Here we would like to record a vote of SINCERE THANKS to dear Swee Yin for her continuous support toward our Lions Club Project Fund with her timely cash  donation of RM500 for 2012.
